Growing up my childhood neighbor’s name was Polly Parrot. She had a macaw parrot named Osgood that looked JUST like my Osgood Parrot Acrylic Earrings! One of my first jobs ever, around the age of 9 or 10 was housesitting and feeding Osgood and his bluebird brother, Luis. Unfortunately, Osgood did not like me nor my dad. He would talk, rant and rave to the point of scaring me to death. I’m not sure he ever ate a lot. I discovered, I only liked Osgood when Polly Parrot was around. I decided I wasn’t a good bird keeper so I didn’t accept any more bird watching jobs.

Fortunately, I was not the keeper who accidentally let Osgood and Luis fly away. I believe one of them came back shortly after he escaped bird prison. If my memory serves me correct, Luis was gone for a month or so before he found his way back home.

To further the bird experiences, before moving to Miami, Boyd and I stayed at a couple of South Beach hotels. One of the hotels has a macaw parrot just like Osgood and these earrings. While laying out by the pool, this bird talked and talked and talked. I knew then, a pair of parrot earrings named Osgood would be friends of mine for life.
